CROSS POLLINATION IN BUSINESS

Your company wants to beat the odds of competition in the market place but there is no openness to experience. The management team has observed slow performance and absence of enthusiasm among the employees. You are worried what to do next. Well, here’s a strategy to implement that could save your business, it’s less costly and requires engaging your employees in the different departments. The Plan is to do Cross Pollination . Yep, I call it the breakthrough strategy, it’s the new original to informing your decision making processes and increasing productivity. What exactly is Cross Pollination ? Cross Pollination is a biological word for the transfer of pollen grains from one flower to another flower thereby permitting the fertilization process.   Pollination occurs with the help of insects, wind or can be done by hand to produce offspring with desired traits, like colour, improved quality or pest resistance. The process makes the seed plants pass their genetic material to the...

VERTICAL SACK FARMING

So I recently embarked on a journey of farming. Yes, am now a farmer, actually I want to train people on farm smart ideas I have recently practiced and are sustainable. This is how the journey began, I was idle and then started browsing through farming ideas. That’s it, idleness brought about farming.  My latest project is this creative farm smart adventure called Vertical Sack Farming. Vertical Sack farming is a technique of growing crops in sacks filled with soil, manure, pebbles for drainage, and growing plants on the top and in holes on the sides. If you have no garden, no worries, this sack is enough to fit on your balcony. It is very suitable for urban farmers who are looking to produce their farm fresh food. Four days after planting the spinach Two weeks after planting Four weeks later the spinaches are blooming I planted spinach in the holes on the sides and cabbages, carrots and tomatoes on the top. This is one farm smart project am happy about and eager to teach and train...

ENGAGING YOUR COMMUNITY

How do you engage your community? From my experience of working with and for the vulnerable community members I must say one of the best thing you can give to someone is a listening ear, giving people time to talk about what they are experiencing can help you visualize how to help them. Getting information first-hand from the people on the ground helps you develop practical solutions to their problems. Gone are the days one would wake up and think of doing something to help people in a community without seeking their input. Community engagement is basically bringing the stakeholders of a community on board to address issues affecting their well-being, achieve sustainable outcomes, ensure equitable decision-making processes, and develop relationships. It puts people’s voice at the heart of operations and programmes and start shifting the power imbalances that existed. When engaging the community you gain the trust of the people you serve and your work becomes relevant and impactfu...

MOTHER NATURE

MOTHER NATURE Mother Nature is changing her clothes And Father Time is watching In a world of malls, sports stadiums and concrete streets We no longer care for Mother Nature Mother Nature is real Mother Nature could take a month off And nobody would notice While we ignore Mother Nature at our own peril She has a way of slapping the ego out of the arrogant us Mother Nature is real We see her all around every time She makes the flowers bloom The wind blow The angry black clouds stain out the sun Mother Nature is real For the last two hundred years or so We’ve been fighting it out with her for supremacy   Are we winning Or have we already lost Mother Nature is real Majority of us don’t seem to give a damn Our egos are so secure We no longer thank her for our existence Mother Nature is real    By Louise Tosher

YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED; CLIMATE CHANGE IS A BIG THREAT!

Climate change is becoming a big inevitable concern to not only our lives as human beings but also to the ecosystem reason being, you and me have assumed the early warning that the environment is sending us every day. We end up blaming the government for not doing so many things that we can do as individuals. One of Mahatma Gandhi’s quotes says “Be the change you want to see in the world”, and clearly this is where it all begins, with oneself. But what exactly causes climate change? Climate change is caused by among other things Global Warming. Global warming being the drastic increase in the emission of CO2 (carbon dioxide) caused by burning fossil fuels thus resulting to change of temperature in the atmosphere. Global warming has been caused by various environmental concerns such as:   Greenhouse gases -human activity has increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere .This has lead to more heat being retained in the atmosphere and thus increasing g...

TOO LONG!

Hey,been a minute since my last post but am back. Now, for the minute time I was away I was digging deep into the world of job creation and YES jobs are there but the experiences required are too high for some of us to qualify. More and more people are enrolling in universities and colleges to acquire a degree/diploma/certificate or even all of them, just to secure themselves jobs, others further their education just to be a step ahead to get multiple degrees all in the name of getting a job. While many jobs require a handful of experience, our fresh graduates with no experience end up losing the opportunity. But wait a minute, what if some of these graduates would be given an opportunity to just utilize their knowledge and skills within these organizations? I can bet some of them are way better than some people in those organization, at times its healthy for an organization to adjust to some changes and not to mean that they should lay off som...
